I bought a used hood at Carlisle last weekend. I just about have all of the old flaking paint scraped off. Underneath the hood is a light tan/brown with areas that are a whitish color. There is a spot at the back edge where the hood is cracked clean through, maybe 2 inches long. My questions are:
How do I repair the crack?
There is a low spot on top of the stinger part, should I build it up?
I am assuming there is a lot of sanding in my future. What grit paper?
What type of primer or sealer? I will be using laquer paint w/o clear coat.
On the under side, the cross braces have been cut. How do I close of the open ends?
The underside has a rough woven pattern to it. I would like it look as perfect as possible. How do I address that?
Normally I wouldn't attempt something like this, but since this a spare hood, I'm going to do it. Thanks for the help, Classic
