Man, have I been a busy beaver. With work, the house, Christmas time, etc.....

Well, I am starting to make more headway on TZracers car. Today I laid up the first coat of primer (this is fiberglass resin based heavy filler primer) on the worked areas.

After this sets, I will scuff it down and get a coat of urothane primer on the whole car.

I can see hundreds of small spots that have to be worked, but this is the only way I know to go.

It took me forever to get the flares, front clip, doors fit, etc, and the filler panel as he is now going to sidepipes.....but, the biggest pain in the rear was getting rid of all the old red laquer primer.

Soon.....soon. I hear the house honey do list calling too.

You can't see it in this pic, but I have really had to hammer to get the rear filler panel to work right. It is a long story on the history of the car, but needless to say I had to hand build all the inner body flange to mount the panel in place.

Vette mag did a feature on this for the Feb 03 issue. However, they cut the panel edges straight like the factory optioned 69 side pipe cars. I went with the roll out filler style instead.

Wow looking good! You do excellent work.
What kind of rubber are you putting under those bad boy flares? Are you gonna put offset trailing arms on?

This car will get meats much like my 69. Like 275 35 18 front and 335 30 18 rear.

yes, it has off set arms.

Okay, just finished the first two nice wet coats of all over primer. So far so good.

I am exhausted, and have a little bit of a head buz. Temps are dropping fast, so I had to heat the garage up prior to shooting, shut the heat down, blast the car, and then exhaust the fumes without letting the temps drop too fast inside the garage.

Now, final shot for the night.

Next is.....you guessed it. Wet sand, wet sand, wet sand, wet sand....

I like to put a few drops of dish washing soap in my wet sand bucket, and use a 9" rubber block. This elimates grease, helps keep the car clean, and helps lubricate the paper to last longer.

looks great chris... with the step by step progressing so fast it is hard to appreciate how much work you must be doing. It would take me that long just to get the thread updated with pictures. :) We sure do like to see the progress though!

Hasn't been that long ago for me to forget the sore muscles.
