I have a 1958 corvette 4 speed and at times I have trouble(after I have backed the car out of the garage) with respect to getting the car into 1st gear. When it finally cooperates, it runs smoothly, but it seems very temperamental. Could this be associated with cold weather, the age of the car, or any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm going to move your post into the C1/C2 Forum for greater exposure...

If you have a Borg Warner T-10 tranny then that is a common issue. You need to adjust your reverse linkage lever per the ST-12 manual and verify that your clutch is adjusted correctly. Do a search on this forum since there have been several threads written about the same problem.

Good luck
