Let me start by stating I am NOT mechanically inclined.
Hopefully someone out there can help me. I recently took my 2001 out of storage. I hooked up the battery and it started with some hesitation (clicking, etc). Then the engine lite came on and stayed on. The voltage display was all over the place from 12.0 to 14.4, jumping up and down. Brought it directly to the dealer. The dealer told me the reason was because the battery was drained and needed a charge. They gave the battery a charge and reset the engine lite. All was OK. I left the car in the garage for a couple of days (still rainy and cold in NH). Three days later went to take the car out and it was difficult to start. Clicking, hesitation, etc., then the car started. I noticed that upon starting the clock reset. Then I got another message "Service Column Lock". Back to the dealer....
They recharged the battery again....kept it overnight not charging, and it started OK the next day at the dealer's. Said the gel batteries are sensitive to becoming low(????). They reset the "Service Column Lock" display and everything was going OK. Told me the generator, etc., were OK. Took the car home and used it the next 4 days through Sunday without any problems. Rained Monday and Tuesday...didn't use the vette. Started it on Wednesday....Same problem starting (clicking, hesitation, etc.) but it started. No messages in the DIC but did lose the clock. Voltage low, but going up.
Can anyone help???? Could it be the battery just can't take a charge??? Is my next step to buy a new battery???
Thanks....
