:D

In preparation for the arrival of the engine kit on Monday, I decided to take advantage of the great weather (6 degrees Celsius and sunny) and clean up the garage.

We carefully pushed the car outside into the sunlight. I couldn't believe the sudden crowd of kids (8 to late teens) who showed up.....all eyeballs, but respectful of keeping hands off without me saying anything.

It sure does look purdy out in the sunlight.........and those new fender lines around the big wheels. :eek Well, just wow!

Pardon me for blowing my own horn. :D

She's back inside a clean garage now. The engine stand and hoist are set up and waiting for the delivery truck. C'mon Monday!!!!!

That car on eBay......:eek :eek :eek

And 67HEAVEN, that 502 will be schweet! Just look at that torque curve at the bottom of the page. http://www.high-performance-engines.com/ce16.html
Yes, the torque curve isn't really much of a curve is it. :D

By the way, the one that I ordered was this one... http://www.high-performance-engines.com/ce15.html

The same as the one you linked to with additional top end goodies. I ordered it unassembled (other than the short block) for obvious reasons.

Bob...what carb are you going to use? i spoke to Lars today,we are having him come up in june to tune some of our cars, and after talking to him i am going to ditch the holley 750 and go to a speed demon 850...

if you are interested in meeting him i hope you can come by with the car...

Mike,

To begin with, I'll use the Holley 850.

The only thing that is sort of permanent is the short block and heads. Everything else is up for possible change depending on driving experience.

My goal is not in specific dyno numbers. It's in a seat of the pants feel and, of high importance to me, sound. I'd like to replicate the sound of my old race 427. Two things get in the way of getting to that sound, however. Lower compression (9.6 vs 11.5) and lack of solid lifters. If I don't like what I hear, who knows. ;)

My racing days are long over. I'm just gonna pull a "poser" as a cruise by. ;LOL

Too bad that it is not a rect. port....i have a LS6 highrise intake sitting here beside me on the floor....
Mike,
If I were building another racing engine, I'd grab that intake up in a minute. For the street, I believe the new modified oval ports are best up to about 5,500rpm.

Not to change the subject, but there was another thread recently that discussed why old cars sound so much better than new cars. No one could really come up with an answer. I have wondered this also. For example, my dad has a '57 Chevy 283 power pack that sounds fantatsic--far more throaty than today's much larger discplacement V8 engines. Why is this? Even when people add dual open exhaust, the modern V8's don't have this sound. I'm talking about that real low "glug glug glug" sound.
