The Ram Jet ZL1 is based on the legendary all aluminum ZL1 cylinder block. The ZL1 block, first introduced is 1969, was used in Can Am and found its way into a very limited number of 1969 Corvettes and Camaros. With a few modern updates such as provisions for a roller camshaft and improved main webs, the ZL1 block is still produced from the original tooling used in 1969. Each engine will carry a special three digit serial number machined into its unique cast logo Ram Jet ZL1 valve covers. The ZL1 makes some serious horsepower, with 520 HP on tap thanks to it's 10.2:1 compression ratio and .640''/.598'' lift solid roller cam. The Ram Jet ZL1 uses GMPP's Ram Jet fuel injection originally introduced on the Ram Jet 502. This system offers great throttle response, torque and drivability. A forged crankshaft, rods and pistons fill the aluminum cylinder block. The aluminum cylinder heads have stainless steel valves and race quality springs actuated by roller rocker arms. The Ram Jet ZL1 comes complete with ignition, fuel system, water pump, starter, automatic transmission flexplate, ECM and wiring harness. The Ram Jet is intended for use in 1978 and earlier pre-emission street vehicles and any year off-road vehicles.
