Well my first try at rebuilding a PS Control Valve didn`t go so well. Maybe someone can help me with what I did wrong. I filled the system and started the car and the car turned to the right. No biggie adjust the balancer. Start the car again and this time fluid comes squirting out around the rubber boot. THIS IS A PROBLEM. What did I do wrong. And should I just pony up the bucks and just buy a new or rebuild again. I don`t really want to rebuild again but I will if it is possible.

Hi, are you talking about the boot on the connection of the drag link ? If so it's a simple fix. You have the cup seal in backwards. Been there done that ! Fred

were going to be getting rid of all the new p/s stuff off our 82, the new stuff has about 2 miles on it

I am guessing the valve has to come all the way back off to get to this point. Also the cup seal is called what in the assembly manual. I have an exploded view in my manual so this shows all parts. Are talking about the reaction seal?

Hi again,
First of all you can do the repair without removing the whole unit. It helps if you have someone to hold the spring loaded unit while you bolt it together. Make sure your annulus seal is facing the correct direction. It is the last seal before the spacer. It is in the shape of a cup and must be in correctly to hold the fluid inside the valve otherwise it will push past the seal and come out in the ball stud seal. Good Luck!!! Fred

Thanks Fred. I will get out there and give it a shot one day this week. I do have a few days off this week. I am gonna give it another try and see if I can get it right.
