Last night I decided to put my column lock bypass on. In the past, the previous owner had the column lock issue, and had to have it towed in and repaired. Appearantly the Chevy dealership took it upon themselves to wire tie the A/C sensor to the radio bracket, instead of mounting it back in the dash where it was supposed to go (where air from inside the cabin passes across it). When I bought the car, I noticed the electronic climate control was very unpredictable, now I know why! It was reading the temp of the dash, instead of the inside of the car.
My point of this thread is if you have had the column lock repair, not the recall, but a actual repair AND you have Electronic Climate Control, it would not be a bad idea to pop the vented 1" square plastic plate off the dash. It's the one by the steering wheel. You *should* see a little wire sensor behind there. If you don't, your dealer probably did the same thing to your car.
For pictures of this sensor, and how to get the plate off, look at the LS1Howto.com instruction page on installing the Column Lock Bypass. The second picture in Part 1 is what I am talking about.
