Pulley Help Please

My '64 327/300 /no air/ no powersteering has 2 grooves each on the crankshaft pulley and on the water pump pulley. Neither line up perfectly with the alternator groove. Where does the belt go, in the outer most or inner groove or does it matter? As always, many thanks ahead of time.

The alternator belt should be on the outside pulley. I think the exception may be if you have AC. ....Ed

I kinda thought the no-p/s no a/c non-SHP 327s had single groove pulleys top and bottom and one belt . . . . .
