Folks, are there any real special (B2K issues) things I should check on a B2K before purchase?

I've got a pretty good "normal" checklist but with a B2K I want to "choose wisely".

Thanks

Call Callaway with the vin# and they will share any info in the file.

Only about 60% of Callaways were ordered B2K from the order sheet. Check codes in glovebox. I think it makes them even more special, but Reeves calls all of them Callaways!

...pay absolute close attention to the items such as hoses and ducting for any related turbo components -

Also heard of an owner w/ oil in the intercoolers - discovered after purchase, the end results were a set of new turbo seals.

Remember, it is a Corvette, only more so :cool :v

drive the car and make sure the boost sits between 50-56"hg

M-m-m-m...learn something everytime I visit. I did not realize that percentage of B2K option vs. later conversion. Ole' 87-027 is a B2K baby!

87 B-2K =167 Total=188 B-2K =88.8%
88 B-2K =105 Total=125 B-2K=84%
89 B-2K =51 Total=68 B-2k=75%
90 B-2K =59 Total=58 B-2K=101.7%
91 B-2K=63 Total=71 B-2K=88.7%

Average B-2K of total Callaway Twin Turbo production =87.64%

That is closer to what I had thought. Still learning!

Trim items! :eek

Besides the major items like Dymag/Callaway wheels (88 -mid 91) , look for the trim items such as emblems and other trim pieces.

The B2K I just picked up needed two emblems and a throttle body plate - the little stuff can add up.

Have you narrowed your search a bit?? Or at least have a style/model in mind??

Happy hunting :m

Ole' B2K 87-027 was missing most of the identifying badges when my son found it and we looked at it. This forum and Joanne helped me confirm is was an authentic B2K before my purchase. Then advances on birthday and Christmas presents helped to bring it up to speed. In that respect I'm 371 years old. Like dog years, I'm so far ahead on receiving car gifts I can't possibly live long enough to square up! I do not respond often but I watch this forum all the time. These folks are great! My advise: same as with any CORVETTE [most cars], buy the best you can. Parts and repairs are very expensive and it cuts into the enjoyment when you have to do a lot. Also, the "better-half" figures out long before you do that your deal wasn't really a deal. Then all of a sudden, you are 371 years old, +/- some of course!!

Leave to the US was just too full of family events to do any search activities. Now, departure date looms ahead - must wait till my return now to pick up the torch again (Spring 07).

Only "requirement" from the wife is the AT option. Really makes it a bit harder to search but I'm not complaining at all - I've got the go ahead to buy a Callaway:).

I MADE A DEAL WITH MY WIFE WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST VET....SHE GOT A CAR OF HER CHOICE AND I GOT A MANUAL SHIFT. SHE THEN WAS TAUGHT
BY ME (GRINDING GEARS AND ALL) HOW TO DRIVE A SHIFT. AND 30+ YEARS LATER I CAN STILL HEAR THOSE GRINDING TEEETH. IN THE END IT WAS ALL WORTH IT, I KEPT BOTH THE MANUAL AND THE WIFE.
AS YOU CAN TELL I AM PARTIAL TO A STICK... I FEEL THAT HAVING AN AUTO IN A SPORTS CAR IS JUST LIKE KISSING YOUR SISTER.....
