I drained the Antifreeze tonight. It looks very rusty. Should this tell me something? Could it just be from sitting for long periods of time?

Thanks for your help,
Tim

I have owned the car for 2 years now. I'm guessing it has been a long time since its been changed.

Well your in the same weather as me. (rockland county ny) normally I would suggest a good fluch and a fluid change but with this frigid weather I would be afraid of the water icing up. all of the shops local to me now offer an antifreeze cleaning and high pressure flush,You may want to invest in that.

Be sure to drain the block if you haven't already done so. There are plugs on either side of the block not too far above the edge of the oil pan. You may encounter great difficulty getting the plugs out. Once you do, you may find that no coolant comes out. Poke something in the hole and get ready for a rush of antifreeze.

On a sb these plugs are covered up the lower ignition shields. They will have to be removed to gain access to the plugs.
