Question about Bose stereos

I have a 94 with the Bose "Gold" Cd/Cassete player, but the speakers do not seem to be Bose speakers-how can this be? The rear ones are just standard Delco 6x9s & I havent checked the front but I assume they are not Bose speakers as well. This sparked my interest after seeing the Bose Gold stereo, but the emblems on the rear speakers just say Delco Electronics. What gives-I thought the bose gold head unit came with bose speakers?

Could it be that the Radio was replaced with a Bose system, but did not originally come with one?

Hope this helps!

I thought the bose gold radios were not powered-they just sent a signal to the speakers that were powered, and the bose speakers were 6.5s in the rear not 6x9s

There do exist adapters to plug the bose gold stereo into stock speakers. The results are said to be less than ideal, audiophile-wise.

The previous owner may have replaced just the head unit with the uprated bose gold variety. Perhaps to gain the CD player.

Either way... if you're interested in better sound quality, you should just rip the entire system out and replace it with aftermarket. Even the full bose gold system doesn't sound that great. It's enough to satisfy folks who aren't all that interested in music. But the rest are generally unsatisfied. It's nothing like the quality of bose home systems (which are generally quite nice).

I replaced my Bose gold system with a complete Sony Xplod setup, and the difference in sound quality is night and day.

Do a forum search on Bose. There's a wealth of information on the subject that has been previously posted. They have 'notorious' status.

I checked the options label on the sticker in the console says UM6-isnt that Delco Bose? If I went with an aftermarket system-what size speakers fit in the front kick panels? Also, wil the double DIN radios fit in the stock opening?
