Question about C5's

  • Thread starter Thread starter Brett

Because this is one of the discussion topics guaranteed to polarize opinion at a Corvette enthusiast site. Here's a brief list of what I've observed here at CAC over the years:
Automatic vs. Manual Transmission
Meguiars vs. Zaino
Coupe vs. Convertible
Borla vs. Corsa
Body Side Moldings: Yes or No?
Which Synthetic Oil to Use
Millenium Yellow vs. Quicksilver
Rob's 1990 ZR-1: Does It Really Exist?

In other words... subject's its best not to re-visit.An excellent suggestion! We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Thanks for the compliment, Jesse. :beer

That's one of my favorite photos of my 'vert taken by MsSchroder during CruiseFest 06. And I used it because it was an excellent display of the BSM which was the original topic of the thread.

Different strokes for different folks.

Diplomatically speaking, they look good on some colors and certain vettes.

It's definitely a matter of preference, if you have 'em, you probably like 'em, if you don't have 'em you probably don't like 'em. Am I a genius or what?

Practically speaking, they can prevent door dings and damage.

You'll love this ...

The BSMs only add weight and reduce performance for the ZO6 that has thinner glass for the windshield, titanium exhaust, lighter stabilizer links, lighter wheels, an aluminum transmission cooler case etc... ...all the things that add up to reduce weight, it defeats the purpose. Something went wrong when the HUD became standard in 2002, it's gotta add weight.

BSM's Rule !

Why do some C5's have....I don't even know what to call it.....a "rib" coming out of the side vents, along the body, and some don't?

I've tried to research this, and it doesn't indicate a model year, and also isn't specific to a coupe, vert, or FRC. So what gives? Is it an option?

BSM's (Body Side Molding's) Rule... In my opinion C5's look MUCH better with BSM's... They look like they're missing something without them or look like a cheaper version of the car.

BSM's make the car look more exotic and give it a better overall look.
