1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
So on January 7th my car came home from the autobody shop after being painted and completely buffed out.The shop I use has a spray booth and the car was cooked in the spray booth after paint.

So since January 7th the car had been in my heated garage maintained at 55 degrees, Normally I only keep the garage around 40 unless I am going to work in it.

I brought my hood inside my house on saturday to try and install a new boss for the hood hinges,I also have the doors inside so I can rebuild them, And the inside of my house now has very noticable chemical "new car paint smell". The garage is a tight garage and does not have this smell, and there is more surface area of new paint in the garage then in the house.(does that make sence)

Anyways the house is normally around 70 degrees,Do I have the paint smell because the solvents are coming out in the house because of the higher temputures? Should I be trying to keep the garage at 70 degress so that the solvents come out?

not that I know very much about paints, but I would imagine your guess is correct. To me it seems that 55 is a bit low to really let the paint cure and at 70 degress inside the house it's probably curing a lot faster and therefore the stronger paint odor.
i'm sure someone like JohnZ, John M, or paintdaddy can give you a definate answer though.

Larry, When I painted my car (with 2k urethane) I brought the doors, hood, trunk, deck lid, gas door, cowl vent etc. inside and I had a slight smell. These parts hardened up much faster than the body did over a 3-4 day period. I think the heat really helps cure it. I think just one or 2 days at 70° would do it if you think it is still soft. I didn't have mine "cooked" but I kept the garage up to 70° + for a few days so the body would harden like the other parts.
How are you doing with the hinge bosses?

Thanks for the replys

As for the boss

I purchased a hood off ebay and one of the boss's were missing,I am going to make a steel plate today and then try and slide it into place from where the male hood hold downs mount with a welding rod, then capture it with a long bolt. Ill see what happens,

Plans for tonight,Finish the disasembly of the windsheild, install the boss for the hood.
