Question about shocks

I guess what I meant to say was "highly recommended" as opposed to "highly rated". All the CAC members w/ the KYB's seem to think they're a great shock for the price and that they gave them the ride quality they were looking for.

I've followed this same buying plan for my exhaust, air-intake etc...and I haven't been let down by these guys yet.

I'll keep ya' posted on the lowering part as it appears to be fairly easy w/ the "kit". An inch drop outta look sweet!

I get a ton of good tips/advice from the Forum, too, and thought you may have stumbled upon a real comparison test. Let us know how they work out.

Sorry to hear about our legal eagle getting ignored by Bilstein. My service was excellent and the advice was right-on. I like the ride on this roughest-riding-Corvette-ever-built Z-51 more than anytime in my 20+ years of ownership; enough to have taken back a Z51 C-6.I lowered my car about 18 years ago, when I did the rest of the suspension. You almost get used to the scraping after a while.

I don't know how you get 1" out of removing a pair of roughly 1/2" thick rubber spacers, from the front spring mount. I redid my front using the poly wedge because it was too low for the street w/o a spacer.

Yeah, I was real surprised about not getting a response, too. I mentioned the tech articles on the Forum, Halverson's (sp?) name etc., and was very careful NOT to say I was a lawyer. Also, San Diego is my favorite city, I surf, so......
In any event, I discovered an extra FX-3 computer when going through the archaeological layers in the car, with all sorts of mysterious numbers on it. I feel like I am in Stargate SG-1, or whatever it's called.

just wondering if you got the KYB shock for your vette? if so do you like them on it and the new ride from them. i am in the same boat, my bilsteins have 85K on them and 19 years old, way over due for change!! but they cost to much for me right now.

After reading these as well as a thorough scan of the SEARCH engine for shocks I decided to go w/ the KYB's. They are highly rated and you can't beat the price.

I'm going to take the advice of others here and have my Bilsteins revalved for more aggressive driving but in the interim...it's KYB for me.

BTW...I also ordered the lowering kit. Inexpensive and drops the car about an inch. Anybody here have any experience w/ this?

hey guys. what are some of the subtle signs that my shocks are going bad? what i mean is the ride "seems" fine to me but since it's the only vette i've ever owned i don't really have anything to compare it to. all i know is it ain't spongy and the rear doesn't touch the sky like some subarus i've seen.
is age good enough reason? i've also heard good things about kyb so i wouldn't be robbing myself reagardless. thanks.
