69 white zl1,

ok, ive seen it.... i love it, not only the big block under the hood, but also to paint job......

i was wondering if anyone had pictures of it? the one witht the big black stripe down the middle and spread out on the back...... im looking for pics of it from the back... to see how the stripe is done and some up close........ i found a hot wheel on ebay of it, but i missed the auction for it..... and i have only found 1 picture of the same style in a book but doesnt really show a good angle af the rear, all you see is the hood.....

Good luck...there were only two ZL1s built. I would have to say, next to the '83 that is sitting in the Corvette Museum, the ZL1 is the rarest Corvette built.

You've got mail. A rather large jpeg file.
I see that you are in Wichita too. Hope to see you at a few of the events this year.

Sorry, didn't know that I couldn't just get your e-mail address from the profiles and add an attachment.

Roger's Corvettes in Florida (I think) claims to have one of the ZL1 Corvettes. It is on their website and is yellow and black.

Here's what your model was built to resemble- Here is Kevin Suydam's ZL-1!!

The yellow ZL1 at Roger's Corvette in Fla. is known to be authentic. It has firm roots back to the original selling dealer. It was formerly owned by Wayne Walker, the owner of Zip Products and if I remember correctly this is when the resto took place. I also think I remember that Walker searched for and found the original motor and returned it to the car. As far as I know, the car is viewable by showing up at Roger's. It'd be a worthwhile trip to anybody who's really a ZR1 groupie. After Walker, the car was owned by someone in Fla. who lost it in an IRS seizure. When IRS was selling it, a friend and I became interested, thinking the car might sell for less than it ultimately did. This was in the early 90's. Roger has owned it since that time.

There are at least two others claiming to be the remaining one. The blue car was in a magazine some years back and the owner had a compelling story of how he knew the car to be authentic, but it was pretty weak on documentation. The white car's pedigree seems somewhat weak also, relying heavily on a signed document from a former IRS employee/car owner certifying the car's authenticity. I'm not stating an opinion on which if either of the blue or white car is authentic, but I believe there is no doubt on the yellow car.

According the Vette Vues book, the yellow ZL1 has the correct stripping for a ZL1. This white one does not. But who's to say that vette Vues is correct.
