I bought earlier this year, VBP's Performance Plus System. After it was installed by my mechanic, I noticed that the 'bar' on both Upper Control Arms are not powder-coated like the rest of the control arms. I asked VBP this and they said that they should be and sent me another set of new control arms. They appeared to be similar to the original ones that I got. I intend to ask them again. Maybe they misunderstood me but the technician that I spoke with was looking at their catalog at the same I was while we were discussing this.

I'm just wondering and would like to ask those that bought this system. Are the 'bars' on your control arms unfinished or powder coated like the rest of the system? I'm referring to the metal bar that goes across the control arm and gets bolted to the towers. This is where I was supposed to bolt on the spreader bar that I bought from VBP too.

Thanks.

Mine aren't powder coated. They aren't painted either.

I have a setup thats about 8-10 years old...Can't remember exactly when I purch. it... but not painted. I've seen newer kit that were.

To Qualify the Question...

Just want to qualify my previous question... I'm talking about the "Performance Plus System" not the control arms packaged by themselves only.

With an investment of $2K, you would think that all parts are either painted or powder-coated not left bare-metal subject to rust.

Thanks...

Is the 'system' more then the upper & lower control arms and the transver spring?

Mine is so old the rubber pads are dry rotted so things may have changed a bit??

I use the VBP street/slalom suspension in my '81 4-spd. Sometimes I suspect that VBP isn't totally on top of things, as over the years I have had to swap out various of the parts to correct errors they've made. My guess is that you will find yourself doing much the same thing.
