Question about wheel/tire upsizeing

Hi All, Iam planning to replace my OEM wheels/tires on my 96 CE. Iam considering going to a 18x 9.5 wheel and tire combo to replace my original 17x9.5.
Would that screw up the speedo or cause any ill effects to the strg/suspension?

Use a tire that has the same basic overall diameter as the OEM tire and you won't have to mess with the speedometer/odometer.

I use the Tirerack.com web site to research tire specs when I'm trying to decide what works and what don't.
