c4c5specialist, last Sunday (Oct 12th), I was driving my Coupe and low and behold, the Check Engine light turned on. I then drove to the dealership that has serviced the Corvette since I took delivery of it. Fault codes P0757 and P1415 were found. The transmission valve body and left bank air check valve were replaced (per the repair invoice). I am on business travel and have not had an opportunity to talk with the dealership service staff to enquire about the condition that caused the fault codes and its repair; however, I thought you might care to comment.

Specifically: 1. What is the likely cause of the condition that resulted in the codes and the required repair? (At the time the check engine light went on, I was driving in the hills around the S.F. peninsula between Santa Cruz and San Mateo - altitude of around 1,000 feet; I was actually going uphill at the time, if that helps, speed was around 40 mph. Basically, I was on a Sunday cruise.) 2. After the check engine light went on, I drove for about another 20 miles to get to the dealership. Did any damage occur during the drive to the dealership? If so, what? When I picked up the car, it seemed the same as before, just no check engine light.

Parts that were replaced are:

24224431 Valve ASM 4.265 (old core was returned to factory)
24208574 Filter Kit 4.197 R
24221350 Gasket Kit 4.265
22048212 Valve ASM 3.670 R
ATF Transmission Fluid

The repair was handled as a warranty repair, so no expense to me. I am just curious as to what happened, whether it could have been prevented (although I am pretty careful about maintenance - all lubricants (engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid) were replaced at the 3000 mile mark), and whether any damage occurred beyond the parts that were replaced.

Thanking you in advance for your comments.

HI there,
No, I do not think any damage was done.
Your P0757 is for the 2/3 shift valve, within the valvebody, that was replaced. This basically states that when a shift was commanded by the PCM, it did NOT take place at the appropriate time. So, the PCM defaults, and makes it so that no damage occurs.
I think your dealership has served you well in this case, and that they were on their repair game.
No, there was nothing that could have been done to prevent this. Sometimes, internal tolerancing inside the valve body changes, and valves bind. It is NOT uncommon, in automatic equipped cars, it does happen from time to time.
I think you will be just fine, and I am sure you will continue to enjoy your c5.

c4c5specialist, thank you for your reply. I have no doubt that I will continue to enjoy my Coupe. On a sunny day, it is the best antidote for a bad day at the office. I would agree with your assessment of the dealership - I have been completely satisfied with them from the day I took delivery. Thanks again for your response.
