How long do you go between applications (Have a C6 with 1600 miles, live in Florida, and use the car daily)? What is the "correct" process for a second application?

Clarification: What I meant is how many MONTHS/WASHES between applications.

DO I have to wait any particular amount of time?

TIA
RickM

Alot depends on if the car is garaged or covered. Mine is garaged, and covered in the garage. I only drive the car a few times a week. It gets washed every 2-3 weeks depending on how dirty it gets. Normally when I apply subsequent coats, they're just quick coats of Z2 (polish). I apply coats of the Z5 (swirl remover) only 1 - 2 times a year. I only re-Zaino the garage queens a couple times a year. But, they only get driven maybe 3k miles a year and washed once a month.

Basically, Zaino is like other waxes/polishes. When the water doesn't bead up as well and the paint doesn't feel as smooth, it's time to reapply. My wifes Avalanche is a daily driver and not garaged, I got about 4 months out of the last application before I decided it needed more.

Overall, Zaino is pretty durable. I used to get maybe a month when I used carnuba based wax.

You can never have enough...the more coats you put on the deeper the luster and shine. I've put on 6 coats in one day. ZAINO FAQ Link
AMEN!!!! I have 8 coats on the Vette now.

I'll put more Zaino on it just about every car wash. That said, youdon't NEED to, you'll see those great beads after a wash /rain [:-(], but if you have the time, the more coats of Zaino the better. The results are great and it goes on all too easy. Remeber " a little goes a long way" which makes the polishing effort a snap. I clay'ed mine Vette as soon as I got the Zaino, and the result is a very smooth finish.

I guess you can polish only every 6 months if you like, but as I said earlier, if you have the extra hour, go for it! You'll ove the result.

Rick,
You can cal Sal Zaino and ask him yourself, if you like. They answer the phones themselves, and promptly.

That said--I did call and ask a similar question myself--the answer was that show cars need to be done more often then driver's. For a driver, I gathered that if you do it every 3 months, you don't need to re-apply z1. That is what I was asking--do I need to re-apply z1?

So what I do is--apply z1&z2 in early spring, again in mid-summer (because summer sun is harder on the paint--I drive it more in spring/summer) and again in late Fall. If 3 months or so has not passed after the summer application, I might just add z2 alone for a show if I have time. Keep in mind my car is garaged when not driven or at home.

FYI--Corvette Weekly mag. claimed that Zaino would last 9 months, that it's protection is 10 fold better than any competition. Sal made no such claim. The mag. article was not for Zaino, just winter detailing.

Enjoy the C6!!

No, I wouldn't think you'd need to reapply Z1. I just do a quick coat or two of Z2 every few months. I use Z5 1 or 2 times a year depending on how the paint looks. Just remember to always end with a coat of Z2, that has the protection stuff in it.

I believe Zaino recommends you use ZFX or Z1 once a year or every 10 coats. And Z5 has the protection stuff in it as well. It is recommended to finish with Z2 because of its higher reflections. :)

Rick, if you apply one non-ZFX coat or up to three ZFX-enabled coats, you should wait 24 hours before applying any more. Subsequent coats are just like previous ones, except you don't need to do any special preparation of the paint except to clean it with any car wash or Z7.

As to how much time or how many washes, there are a million factors such as how often you drive it, how often it's garaged, how dirty it gets, and how your paint is. Different cars in the same conditions won't get the same durability from a protectant. If you want to apply as infrequently as possible, then you'll need to pay attention to how the protection is doing. :)

EDIT: I should have prefaced my comments by saying I am not a Zaino user, though I do own Zaino and have used it. If you want to disregard my comments because of that, feel free. :w
