When you hook the battery tender up do you also have to disconnect the cables on the battery to prevent damage?

Are these really necessary? I don't plan on letting the '78 sit for months on end, but I'm sure there will be weeks when I don't start her up. Should I use one of these?

Hey Stallion - for the 60 or so dollars, it is worth it! Just hook it up, don't have to disconnect the battery. Make sure it is a Battery Tender, not a trickle charger.

That's true, Steve. What brand do you guys recommend? I like to go with name brands for an electic appliance that is on a lot. That scares me...with the risk of fire and everything. Name brands make me feel safe. :)
