I have an 87 Vette with 44,500 miles on it. When the engine is cold it will start immediately. I don't think it cranks for more that a couple of seconds before it fires up. If I start it when the engine is warm it may take 15 or 20 seconds to start. This isn't a big problen I'm just curious as to why it happens.
Thanks

Hard starting when warm is an indication of the injectors leaking down. Hook-up a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail, start the engine and let the pressure stabilize (maybe 10 sec after start) then shut off the engine. It should hold that presssure for at least 2 min. If it drops more than 2-3 lbs in the 2 min the injectors need to be rebuilt or replaced.

If you hold the throttle wide open while cranking when it is warm, it will help it start a little quicker.

Rich at Cruizin' Performance rebuilds and flow matches for about $11.00ea or you could go with some FMS 24lb injectors for about $200.00 for a set of 8.

Good luck,

Mike.
