So how many of you guys actually get speeding tickets, and how often?
I noticed that I never see a Corvette pulled over, or when I pass a speed trap when I'm definately speeding, nothing happens. Is this just me? or do cops leave Corvettes alone for some reason?
:confused

I never got pulled over in my '96 vette... and there was one time I was DEAD MEAT. Came around a corner in a 35MPH zone and there was a radar trap, I was running about 60 and didn't even realize it. I slowed down a bit, but was still runing about 45/50 when I passed him. He pulled out, hit the lights and I pulled over. He went right past me and pulled over an SUV that had been right on my bumper. Close call. Guess the cop figured the Corvette was handling the twisty road just fine, but the SUV was the more dangerous vehicle on that road at that speed. Now after I sold the vette and bought my Porsche Boxster, I've been pulled over twice. Once at night running well over 80 in a 55 zone out in the country-no ticket, just a warning tied to, "I know when you have a car like this, you need to get out and stretch it's legs every now and then, but ya need to slow it down just a bit." Thanks officer! :upthumbs Then again while on a cross country trip, got pulled over running 75 in what I later found out to be a 55 zone (I thought it was 70 and was just flowing with traffic). I was in uniform and after a brief conversation, the officer told me he would be right back with my warning and I would on my way!:_rock I love driving sports cars!! I tend to think that for the most part, law enforcement will be lenient towards someone who is obviously not being stupid in how they are driving, but just out enjoying the drive, even if you are running a little faster than "you should be". Since trading in the Boxster and getting the C5, I've only come across 1 or 2 spots where I was exceeding the limit and a cop happened to be around. Haven't been pulled over though. Probably too soon to tell though. Haven't been pressing my luck yet!;LOL

I think officers may believe that the Corvette driver is a little wiser in how he/she uses the power of the car.

Guy across the street brags about how he has beat 3-4 speeding tickets in his Escort. I told him that it'll catch up with him eventually.

It just seems the slower the car you have; the more you tend to speed.

I got one in the 76 3 years ago and one in the "ticket me" red 97 two weeks ago, both times 10 or less over, just driving along not paying attention. The one in the 76 was at a small town notorious (I found out later) for speed traps. He was hiding behind a barn at the town limits where the speed drops to 35, I was running about 75 and didn't slow down fast enough.
With the 96 it was just the opposite I had just accellerated thru 4th coming out of a town and wasn't paying attention to my speed and was clocked at 67 in a 55, anymore the days of the "bubble gum machine" or big light bars are over this Sherriff had a light bar about 1 1/2 inches high that you can't see till he turns it on.

Now does anybody have any inout on radar detectors and /or jammers I am in the market:L

Without getting into the tit-for-tat on who has the "best" radar detector, I have had very good success with my Escort.

Active jammers are illegal and passive ones don't work.

No speeding tickets since 1990. I was in my Z28 and late for work lol.

I went to Shreveport this last weekend, I Was driving my wifes durango following another SUV at about 95mph on I 20 when we passed a LA state cop and he didnt even flinch (sleeping maybe??). I have noticed that the State Troopers in TX pretty much ignore anything less than 80 on the highways, and I typically don't speed in town.

Been pulled over four times in the last 24 years. Once in my old '96 truck and three times in vettes; let go with a warning 3 times. Received a ticket for doing 10 over (no kidding) on the interstate and beat it in court. So, no tickets on the record. Also, don't have a detector or jammer.

Pfah. I got pulled over in someone ELSE'S Vette. Black Vette, at night, very stealthy. Cop claimed I was doing 70+ in a 35 zone (twisty two-lane) in a light drizzle. I politely informed him that if I HAD been doing that speed, there was no way he'd have been able to stop (he was approaching me), turn around, and catch up to me in less than 1/2 a mile - though there would have been no need to chase me down because I'd have already been in the weeds... the corner I came around when he tagged me was posted as safe at 20. Went to court, told the judge I *might* have been doing 40, if that (yes, I was doing over 35). Was given a small fine and one point. Cop was ****ed...

Have just had only 1 ticket in the Vette. It was about 11:30 on Saturday night about a year ago, was coming back from a friends place and there was not a single person on the freeway, sooo I thought I would test out some of my mods and pushed it up to 130 and then let off. Well there was a Highway Patroleman hiding behind an overpass support with his lights off and he pegged me at 95. When I went to court, the judge was laughing at me when she asked "Gee didn't you think driving down the middle of the freeway at 95 in a red Vette that anyone would notice you"? I said no, there wasn't anyone there. Well just one person-- the cop.

Never been pulled over in the vette but I have gone through multiple roadblocks with the vette and as soon as I show the military ID they smile and wave me through not even bothering to check the dates on stickers (they were good) or bother me about the missing front plate. The only time I got held up at the blockade was because the cop had just bought a 2003 and we were just chatting about the "american dream", I think my date was getting inpatient :L

Never in the vette, but the ARREST ME RED Dakota , was once a target, the stealthy Black Caddy once, AND EVEN one in the RACING Rav-4 :D ( I was sitting still at a red light) was charged with 56 in a 45) Cop never showed up in court, So it was dismissed.:L Sure hope this dosent JINX ME!!!!!!!!!

Never got pulled over in the vette. 10 years now. I don't make it a habit to speed but once in a while you just have to get on it. If were up to me I wouldn't give out speeding tickets ... just careless driving for driving stupid in traffic. I think we all see that!

I get pulled over at least 2-3 times a year BUT I don't get tickets..........lets just call it a professional courtesy........the local cops know one day they may need a professional firefighter-paramedic and they would'nt want me "helping" them when I'm unhappy. :D :L I could accidently miss the IV SEVERAL times "your about to feel a series of needle sticks" or with hold pain meds.....hehe

I had the car approx 3 hours. Driving from NH to NJ, got into MASS crossed three lanes of traffic at about (90+mph in a 60mph) racing my buddy in my GTP. cop saw it came right after me in his expedition police package. He was literally pushing people off the road. I Saw him coming and just pulled onto the shoulder and waited. Let me go with a warning. whew...

They definitely don't leave us alone. . .we're attention getters. I've been pulled over twice since I bought Sweet04. . .No tickets though. :D

Pulled over 3 times, no tickets. Let my friend drive it once, speeding ticket.

1. Going up and down the local college strip, rev my engine a few times in front of the college bars, hot chicks, etc. cop comes out, follows me for a ways, a few miles away from everything, i go make a turn, lights on! Pulls me over for going 39, in a 35 zone. Let me go after he saw my license and a short warning talking to and "its the end of my shift".

2. Coming down an industrial road close to work, cop cuts quickly thru a parking lot, coming towards me opposite side, passes me, does a U-turn in the middle of the street, follows me down very close to my office, lights+sirens, i pull over.. he comes next to me, "You need a front license plate on your car".. thank you officer. He explained he was on his way to someplace else more important.

3. I was tailed by this jerk cop REALLY close on the highway center lane, and sometimes in my blind spot, no lights nothing, i finally get to my exit and he continues on the highway. 2 months later SAME thing. Then, comes along side me, "You better watch the way you are driving, going all over the road, etc". Well, i guess if staying in the left hand lane the whole way commute counts as that... I roll my window down, "what are you talking about"... "Your car is not registared, PULL OVER!..." he tries to explain to me that he has been observing me the past 2 months driving wrecklessly on the highway and he ran my plates before. Turns out, and i had the records, my Corvette was in the dealership about 1/2 that time with repairs and i had been recently taking an alternate route. So I know he's full of sh*t. Not to mention, i had no idea what he was talking about regarding my driving style. Unfortunately, for me, i had recently moved and neglected to renew my auto registration (AN HONEST MISTAKE). Eventually, he let me go, and told me to get it done the next day. Instead of pulling me over the first time and explaining it like polite law enforcement person should, he was a jerk about the whole thing. I would have gone to court for this one.

4. I let my friend drive a few hours to upstate NY on a long trip and only 5-10 mins from our destination (he knew the way). He got a 70 mph speeding ticket in a 55 mph notorious speed trap country windy road. Then he asks me, "how fast would you have been going" and tried to comment that it is the normal speed he would have been going in his olive green toyota tercel, but never got a ticket before. It must be because he was driving the Corvette. I tried to help out, and said this was my Corvette and just let him drive it a little while but that didnt help... The cop was pretty nice about it. I saw 71 mph, which would have been a higher ticket <15 over, instead, he took it down to 70.

Sorry, for the long and drawn out stories. I KNOW cops are looking for me. I think they just pull you over to see the conversation you can give them. I dont speed (often) and dont drive crazy. You know when you haven't done anything wrong, it shows, and they have nothing on you. Or maybe this is just in NJ.

Many tickets in the past 30 years... but none in the Vette. And I always drive the tires off the car, which may explain why it's back in the shop again. Oh well... they'll make more parts.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Sharks are invisible to radar... Mac said so (sort of). :D

been pulled over in NY for not having a front plate. let go. out here in NV a cop saw me make a fast left while trying to beat a yellow light. he "paced" me for about a mile before he turned his lights on. he said he didnt pull me over for the turn because he "knew the car could handle it". he pulled me over because he was pacing me @55 in a 45. he asked if i was late for work. i was. he told me to drive carefully and let me go. oh yeah, i've been pulled over twice in my mail truck for speeding. cop didnt know how to give me a ticket because theres no plate, insurance, or registration. that was for doing 85 in a 65.
