Hi - my husband Lonnie spoke to you at length at Octobervette, and asked me to ask you some questions.

1. How did you roll your car on its side to work on under-body?

2. What were the dimensions of the door braces you used, and how did you affix them to the door jambs?

Thank you in advance for any advice you may have, and congratulations on the awesome outcome of your "project". I will be happy if ours even comes close!

It was great seeing him again, and meeting you. From the sound of it, your car is going to be really special. Lonnie has thought of everything. I especially like his rear deck conversion.

Okay, here we go.

1. I made a wood dolly to roll the basic body on and do the reassembly. Before adding the fender flares, I laid down a rubber mat on the floor, and between my Dad, my nephew, and wife we simply rolled it on the side, then suspended it with wire from hooks on the wall.

2. Before removing the body from the frame, I took 3/4" steel pipe, pouned the extreme ends flat, bent the lock pillar end in a 90 degree, drilled a hole, and bolted it through the door striker.

I took the static body on frame measurement (did not write it down as it will vary from car to car), marked the front section of the bar where it went past the bolt holes for the door hinges, and drilled away. I mounted two bolts in the front of each bar and just the striker bolt in the rear.

Hope that helps!

Good luck

Thanks so much!

I will get this info to Lonnie, he wanted to make up the metal braces at work today if he could. I'm not looking forward to helping him roll the car though, if I drop my end he'll kill me!!

We'll see you soon (and be driving the '71 I hope!)-
