Well I just recived my rebuilt,re geared 336 rear end today from darrels,
I dont know if I have gone CRAZY but this thing looks beutifull.It is natraul cast color and would like to keep it this way.I have recently rebuilt my entire suspention front and rear and did not clear coat the parts and they have been slowley getting surface rust on them,So I am trying to avoid that this time. I purchased some clear from eastwoods and when I use it it seems to have a sheen to it I am looking for like a matte nautral invisable finish.Does any body have any suggestions ?

I'm not certain if they still make it ... But years ago, I used to purchase a "Dupli-Color" high temp clear spray. When used with a HEAVY hand, the finish was fake looking. But a light "dusting" would yield great looking resultz ... There was hardly any sheen and just enough protection! Maybe itz a simple change of spraying technique to achieve the look you desire.

Found something like that over here in Germany and used it for my steering box. Withstands the heat of the nearby located exhaust.

The only thing that you should defintely not use is the laqucer that is for engine protection....that stuff is pretty useless.
 
PS

I am also going to use a light hand as 427 has recomened I seem to have a problem with fisheying all the time and have found if I just keep on lightley dusting a part it seems to come out better
 
If it's a TQ, anything will do. If you drive it a lot, use high temp paint. The rear of my car gets hot enough to melt the factory spring spacers when rolling fast across the desert. I also use high temp on trailing arms and the castings and forgings that comprise the spindle, rotor, housing, and shockk supports.

I get the high temp casting paint from Corvette Central. It even holds up on exhaust manifolds.
