Hey didnt see your in Big D. do you ever go to Keller's on Sat. night off of Northwest Hwy? We cruize there on Sat nights and last Sat evening i had the SS out and this week its the Z16's turn to get out.
Hey Tony,
With regards to Kellers, where exactly is it? I have heard of it but never been there....I live up on the north side, around Corinth/Denton. As long as it's not on the south side of Dallas I wouldn't mind cruising there and checking it out one Saturday. What time do you usually get there? Give me a shout and let me know.
Whats up with the fuel door? Got it in the shop yet??

The engine doesn't have to be running, just have the ingition in the on position to supply power to the door actuator. I must admit that most times I open it as soon as I pull to the pump before I turn it off, However I have forgotten to do this and have had to turn the ign. on then the door opens. I've had an '01,'02 and now an '04 Z06 and it's worked this way on all of them.

Amazing you've had to turn your ignition on everytime on all those years of Corvettes/Z06's. On my 02 Z i could open it without the keys in her, this one for sure has to be running... I'm about to fill up again this morning so i will try with just the key in the ON position. I dont plan on taking her in just for that unless it comes down to not opening at all. I just dont like taking a car into the shop UNLESS its really something needing to be fixed. I had a bad experience i will share someday on one of my Buick Grand National's i took in for repairs.

thanks for all your feedback on this. T.T.

On my '03, I can open the fuel filler door with the console button at any time, without keys in the car. Wonder what the answer is here. :confused

Tell ya what i'll do, i'll run by Huffines Chevy and see what they say because my 02 was like your car. Nothing had to be on, just popped open. I think they either changed things for saftey.. you know how people play with buttons..lol.. OR i have a short as you said in the switch. Im real sure one day even with the engine running i had to punch and punch to get that door open. NOW im happy to know theres a rip cord. but i will at least ask on this. thanks

Someone here reported on their '04 Z16 (I believe Z06nut) said he can open his anytime! It has gotta be a short.

I wish Tony would run out of gas.

I would love to see him rip his fuel door open destroying it.

Tony doesn't have the brains to find the manual switch.

;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

Hey 68Roadster, Kellers in Dallas is on Northwest Hwy, and the nearest intersection is Abrams Rd. Have you ever been to Steakley Chevrolet?

Coming from Denton,TX you would go south on 35 and you can exit Northwest Hwy off of 35 head back east (left) and follow it for about 8 to 10 miles (guessing on the mileage) follow to you pass Abrams Rd. thats where Steakly Chevrolet is.. and then look on your left hand side. It gets busy as the weather heats up. Last week was kinda slow compared to the week before but it might be because of the car shows around town on Saturday nights.

UPDATE on the fuel door on the Z16... i ran by the Dealership in the afternoon today and they really wanted to keep it or for me to bring it back one morning. I spoke with a tech and he thinks the fuel door switch needs replacing after he listen to me try to pop it open. Wont know until i take it one morning tho. I'll let all of you know the fix.

Tony,
Any news on the fuel door situation?? Just wonderin gif you had it fixed and what it was.....thanks.

You probably won't hear anymore from Tony!

He probably ran out of gas and was eaten by the vultures as he could not operate the door!

Thank goodness!!!!!! He'll never be back again! :L

Tony, I would recommend that you duct tape an M80 to your fuel door with a rag full of gasoline sitting near the M80. I think this will take care of your fuel door problem. Always trying to help ya know....;)
