As for the poison part, doesn't it have something to do with the EM-field around a laser-generating device, and how it can cause cancer?

yes its true, most chemicals used in lasers are nasty stuff. You should see the emergency procedures for some of the big lasers we have in the labs at the academy breaking. They basically recommend that you run your @$$ off.

I rely on my detector a lot and it has saved my buttocks several times. It usually goes off way before I see the police car; one just has to pay attention to one's detector and slow down especially when it signals K or Ka -at least here in Illinois.:cool

Get a good detector;
Leave your headlights DOWN until the last twilight minute. The greater return for the cop's radar is your headlight PARABOLIC antenae. (read Dave McClellan's book, 'Corvette from the inside out') While engineering the vette, they experimented with radiator angle to effect a low return profile. The cop ain't gonna get a microwave profile on you until you are within 3 to 4 hundred yards with headlights tucked away.

Contrary to what a cop may say, the detector CANNOT be beat everytime, only OCCASIONALLY!

Short Story - recently on I95 south, north of Richmond, I saw a Trooper on the side and cut from 75 back to about 70 as I passed (I was driving my BMW 540). Eventually the trooper caught up to my gaggle and passed and was slowly pulling away when a C5 in the right most lane blew by me. I could see him coming and was frantically waving at him to slow. Indifferent to my contortions, he kept on going - right passed the (unmarked) trooper - who, predictably and immediately pulled him over! Can you say situational awareness?

Radar detectors will not work in every situation, but my Escort 8500 has saved my butt so many times, I've lost count. I wouldn't drive my C5 without it!

There were three wires taped together. Orange, yellow and black. The black wire is your ground.

Don't let anyone fool you, that V1 can save your butt.

Are the orange and yellow wires both hot, also are they switched from the ignition? And where are these wires exactly, I assume under the kick panel fuse box but I was in there last year and can't remember seeing them at all. But then again I wasn't looking for them either. More description on this would be appreicated.
