Found a small crack in the left radiator tank so its time to replace it. Should I replace it with a stock radiator or get a hevy duty aluminium or something in betwean. are the aluminium ones realy that much better?

It's a 99 model sold Feb. 2000 with 72k miles curently on it. I was thinking of replacing the stock unit with an aluminium rediator, 180 deg. thermostat and reprograming the fans. I know C4C5 has talked against that in some treads before and I do respect the man for his knowelage. I just can't help thinking of the engine runing above 200 all the time and it seams not right to me. I have nothing to back up my reasoning accept a gut feeling, this is where I would like to hear other opinions in hopes of making up mine, if any of this makes sence.

P.S. - The old rediator has a hairline fracture about 3/4" long on very top of left tank, Maybe I should just try to epoxy over the crack and and forget about the mod's. Wonder if that can be done?

:w Save the wave!

If its just the plastic tank thats cracked, they can be replaced by and reputable rad repair place. I had the tanks replaced on my bird and drove it for 6 more years (100k miles) till I sold it.

And ya I think I"m gonna put in a 180 stat as well. IMO the positives out weight the negatives.

Be-Cool Radiator works great and you can run the t-stat alone.
I'm speaking from experience.
180 is too cold. Once you get a real Radiator it never goes above 195, ever.
