Radio tick

Whenever I play my radio it makes a ticking sound. I t does it even when the motor is turned off. I've had the radio replaced and it still makes that ticking sound. I also have a 12 disc cd player and when I play a disc it doesn't make that sound. Anybody have any suggestions?

It is radio reception for sure . Try spark plug wires

If the motor isn't running, why would it be the plug wires?

It wouldn't

Although it DOES sound like it's the radio picking up something that shouldn't be there. Try unplugging the antenna and see if it goes away.

No the radio doesn't count down. It stays showing the time.

How fast is the tick? Approx how many / minute if you can get an accurate count?

There is a anntanae booster located behind the drivers side seat belt retracter ( I think that is what it is called). You might want to check to see if it is the problem. I also was getting ticking like noises on may radio only. I also kept hearing a buzzing sound also coming from the drivers side door ( at least thats were I thought it was coming from ) The buzzing sound was not thru the radio . I opened up the booster and found a loose resistor. I put some felt around the resistor that was buzzing and the sound went away. I also noticed that the ticking like nosie had stoped also. I do not know if this is your same problem but it is worth looking into.
