I have a Y2K C5. Don't get too upset, but my question is this:
has anyone Raised the height of their C5??
I know that you can lower the body slightly using the existing bolts, however i have never heard of anyone raising the body. Yes I know its not cool!
The issue for me is my driveway and ease of entry. i dont need exterme Cd - a couple of inches will not affect performance for me.
If the body is slightly raised - say 1 to 1.5 inches, would it affect wheel geometry or for that matter will i need to realign. also what could be the max? Just a thought.

Yes you should be able to raise it 1-1.5 inches from factory settings with the existing factory bolts!!:thumb:thumb:thumb
Yes,You will have to have the 4 wheel alignment re-done!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Couple of years back I had to rebuild my trany, the shop that did the work had a new mechanic that did the work and when he put it back together he ended up cranking up the rear end to the max. I almost lost it on the way home, the car was so unstable in a turn. When I took the car back they screwed it up even more by adjusting the rear and front (up) and proceed to align only the front. Ended up taking the car to a Vette specialist who drooped it down and gave it a proper 4 wheel alignment. Not sure if this would apply if the car was lifted and properly aligned but in my case the thing was near dangerous when lifted.

When raising or lowering the ride hight just 1/2 inch can dramatically change Caster,Camber and Toe settings!! Depending on up or down, how much, and what type of set up the vehicle has!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Now if this was on your C5,I can see how raising just the rear without proper alignment would make it dance around like a Cat on a Hot Plate!! :thumb:thumb:thumb

:D:D:D

The cat was doing a Macarena while I was reliving my life one flash at a time whenever I made a turn:W

It's the driveways here in Noo-Joy-Z and black coupes are the worst when it comes to this ... :)

Actually, have you tried pulling in at a slight angle ... I have a very slight slope and yep, it scrapes.

If I go slow and come at a slight angle ... no scrape .. but anyhoo, most of the noise is from those skid bars anyway.

Us NJ 2000 black coupes have an issue.
Thanks - That is the only way i can get in the driveway. the guy i bought the car from taught me the trick, since his driveway was a problem also. i usually try for about 15-20 degrees approach and it works. I think I will wait until i accurately measure the actual height and need a wheel alignment before i change any geometry.

dont raise your car height

lower your curb height, i had the same problem and i bought a circular saw and a diamond bit blade. i set it at a 35 degree angle and cut the top of my curb, then i changed it to 20 degrees and recut it again. now i can hit my driveway at any angle..it only took me about 30 mins to make both cuts. if you use a hose on the cement as your cutting it keeps down the saw dust and cools the blade also...:thumb:thumb:thumb

heavy widebody kit

Yes you should be able to raise it 1-1.5 inches from factory settings with the existing factory bolts!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

I have the same question. I know the thread up 3/8" bolts your talking about, but do you just crank a couple of turns on them or do you have to disassemble anything. I believe the widebody kit I have is heavier than the stock body and rubs the upper side of the wheelwell at times. I just want it a little stiffer. Thanks, Billy
