Reading Stored Diagnostic Codes

I'm new to CAC, so I'm not sure if/when this was posted before.

I was given the following procedure for reading out stored codes:

- hold down the OPTIONS button while pressing "FUEL" 4 times very quickly.

Does this work?
Do the GM shop manuals have a decription of the codes?
