This spindle tool has a GM part no. of J-22602. I need this tool! I have a stuborn axle that just wont give up pounding on the knocker loose tool.
Where can I buy one? Used or new? Or can I rent this spindle press tool?

I'm in dier distress over this spindle stub axle..

Thanks

I have that tool and use it to only take up space in my cabinet. I build a lot of arms and never use a press or the spindle press. A 4 lb hammer with the knock off tool is all I use and haven't had one yet stop me. I show using a press in my old how-to threads, you can but you have to support it good or you will bend something.

If your spindle is that tight or you didn't use the 4 or 5 lb hammer then you will probably bend the caliper bracket using that tool. If you do and don't pick up on it you won't know about until you have it all together and the caliper doesn't bolt on center anymore, then you get to start all over.

I hold seminars at Carlisle every year and go over this and other bearing setup tips. Seems like there is someone there who had the same problem and bent the bracket.

Good luck if you need any help let me know.

C3 Spindle Removal

Gary, Thanks for your quick reply to my post.

I managed to get the right hand spindle out with the 5lb hammer and hitting the spindle knocker tool. Also braced torque arm to the wall with a board. I also in between hammering I put my air impact tool against the knocker hit it a few minutes with it.

The left spindle is stuck tighter. Mid America has the spindle press, at $240. I don't need one that offend, maybe never again. Now I would be afraid to use a press like that. Someone else suggested taking the hub with spindle off the car and then press it out. I don't know how I would support it or hold it under my hyd. press.

So today, TGIF, I am sticking with the 5 lb hammer.

Thanks
Fritzo

you should be able to hammer it out. That is just the beginning. To do the job right you have to check every part, then fit new parts that come in and don't fit, then setup the bearings, and assemble, finally dialing in the rotor runout.
