I have a heck of a grinding noise coming from the rear wheel.I know its not the ujoints, someone told me that the bearings in the 84's have to be pressed on,everything ive read tells me they're not, anyone ever done this job,ive done the ujoints on the half shafts several times,is this job harder,by the way anyone know the size or part number?any help will do!

Junk...that link brought up a 1990 Caprice bearing. :L

The bearings are not "pressed on"...the bearing/hub is a one piece sealed unit that just bolts on to the spindle assembly (or "knuckle" as listed in the drawing).

That Washer (PN 14076924) may or may not already be there...it was added later on in a TSB. That along with the anti-sieze lube on the splines fixes the "klinking" sound that often comes from early C4 rear ends.

Junk it was working for me....and Bill, I am using Firefox. I think it's just you Bill! :boogie

Oh and I will say beware of the cheaper "chungfunese" bearings...the bearings themselves are probably fine but the seals are crap. Once the seal starts leaking the bearing is toast (without butter or jelly).
