The body mount rubber bushings just behind my rear tires are about gone. It LQQKS simple to change out---but is it? Is there a "must do" technique besides simply removing the bolt and sliding the new bushings on?:W

If the ones behind the tires are gone I wouldn't just replace those and stop. Chances are they're all needing replacement. Its not a HUGE job but it is fairly involved. You can lift it one side at a time and replace them. Several folks here have done that. I'd go with polyurethane. I used them and can tell no difference in ride. They'll last much longer than rubber.

On the other hand, unless we start some offshore drilling real soon it won't matter anyway... just drive the thing while you still can.
good luck

Thanks, Lone73. I haven't done anything yet. I just wanted to be certain before I tackle this job. You know, it's a shame GM didn't install some sort of shield or cover to protect the bushings and mounting hardware from the elements--especially behind the rear tire!

Go slowly. #4 body mounts are notorious for the cage nut breaking loose and spinning on you. Count the shim stack on each side; reassembly must be the same.
