As I was watching my rear view mirror while stopped in a school zone, I saw a young guy fooling around with his girlfriend and not paying attention that traffic was stopped by the crossing guard. When I realized he was past the point of no return, I tried to go around the traffic and avoid a direct hit. As I veered left he veered right and brushed off my rear bumper leaving some scratches just above the valance.
When I brought my car to the GoodWrench body shop I was told it could be buffed out for less than $100.00. Well, such was not the case. The bumper had to come off and and be resprayed and clear coated at a cost of $600.00.
My question is, will the insurance company list this report to a carfax type agency. If so, will this type of repair work lower the resale value.

Thanks,
chris

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear about your recent mishap. I am not 100% positive, but I think the damage has to be $1,000 or more to be reported to CarFax. Perhaps others have more info on this.

With 722 miles on it,my 03 was slid into from behind on icy roads in GA bringing it home when I bought it!(Very Minor Damage,Not even close to my deductible!) CarFax Shows Nothing,...........
AutoCheck Shows:

Since you have AO tintcoat, it'll have to be blended. I would have the rear of the car totally inspected. This includes the rearend/transmission mounts/cases and everything underneath the fascia cover. Also, have the "box" that is glued to the frame checked for cracks. Lastly, I'd have the frame checked via lazer.

My pont is~ Too often, damage that isn't seen needs to be addressed for safe motoring in the future.
