I am replacing the four nuts on the outside of my hatch where the struts and the latch connect. The plastic has turned chalky and is crumbling. Does anyone have a torque value for the screws that go into them? I would hate to break the glass. Thanks for any help Charlie:w

There are torque specs for the High Mounted Stop Lamp but no specs for the latch assembly, in the either of the service manuals I have. I think if, as you tighten the bolts, you keep a close eye on the plastic washers where the bolts go through the glass, you'll be able to see them compress. That should be sufficient to keep them tight.

If I turn up anything specific I'll get back to you. :CAC

Thanks Ken I changed them all out this am. They were just good and snug not really tight. Sure looks better than the chalky white looking things that were on there. Charlie:w

PS If anyone else is interested they are cheaper at the dealer if he gives you the mech. discount. Not slamming anyone just trying to save folks some $$$$$$$$.
