On my 94 Coupe the lower panel just above the marker light is out of alignment with the upper quarter panel. Looks like someone has hit it (gently) while backing out of a parking space. I looked under the car behind the rear driver side rear tire and it appears there is a metal support running from the rear of the panel to the wheel well opening that might be bent inward. Does anyone have a breakdown picture of how the upper and lower panels are attached? My thoughts are to gently push against this metal brace (IF THERE IS ONE THERE) and reform it outward to make the upper and lower panels match. This is not a big inward bend but it is enough that I can see it from 3 or 4 feet away. Also the wheelo well opening has a crack in the center at the top and what is the recommended supplies I will need to repair the SMC fiberglass. Ecklers has some SMC repair materials and is it any good? Do you have to use any fiberglass matting on the inner side to repair the crack which goes all the way through? what about the Gel Coat? Anybody got any ideas? Wish I could find the jerk that hit me!! :mad I guess what really makes me mad is the fact that I always park out away from the other cars so this wouldn't happen. There were no cars around where I parked and none when I came out of the store about an hour later. Now I at least have a winter project!!:(

Sorry to hear that.I hate low lifes that hit and run.I dont have any detailed pics but the smc fiberglass repair products that you are speaking of are also available at any auto paint store. The main manufacturers of those products are 3m,duramix,and Fusor.Do a search on the web and you can find out more info. You will have to buy a special caulking gun for those. If you are a do-it-yourselfer the paint store might let you borrow one.Good luck:w

Thanks for the response. Still trying to figue out how to straighten that lower panel. Guess I will tear into it this weekend.
What is the caulking gun used for? is it to mix the two compounds together and then spread on the body panel? :confused

yep,it is basically a caulk gun that dispenses both sides equally into one tube.On the inside of that tube it is made kinda like a spiral staircase and the two products mix with each other as they go down the tube. Its good stuff but kinda pricey.:beer
