rear springs

I was told to get a little lift out of the back to add washers, i all ready have the shortest bolts you can put it there, they was like that when i got the car, it has 27,000 miles on it, they had 3 washers on the bolts, i have since then replaced the bushings, i put the 3 washers back now i see the tires are sitting in at the bottom, with new bushings, iam thinking it lifted it up since they was wore out, and broke down, should i go back to 1 washer ?, this is what came with the kit, will this make my tires sit back how they was before ?, i had it all alined last summer , with the old bushings, or should i remove the 3 i put back in and go back to 1 and reline it ?

Along time ago i asked if putting air shocks on was the best way to lift the back of my vette up someone replyed to say , add washers the the bolts on the springs, also was told , that putting shorter bolts in would lift it, i found out that it does already have the shorter bolts in with 3 washers, i ordered new bolts and bushings, the kit came with 1 washer, when i put new bushings in and put the 3 washers back how it was , now my tires, are not straight, they lean in at the bottom, should i take these 2 old washers out or leave then it and have it realined?what i would be doing is only putting the 1 washer in that came with the kit,the back isnt sitting low, so i dont think my spring are wore out, i think the 3 washers was to lift it up like i wanted , but i dont want to ware my tires out, hope this helps.
 
Sounds like you are mixing two different issues. "Tire lean" and "ride height". The tire lean is the camber adjustment and is set but adjusting the camber struts. The ride height is set by the rear spring and length of the bolts. There is a relationship between these two items and changing the ride height does change the camber angle. Based on what I read from your question, here is my suggestion. Adjust the ride height untill you get what you want. Then go to the alignment shop and have them set the camber. That will get the wheels leaning correctly.
 
Ok cool i understand now, i guess when i put new bushings in it changed everything, iam happy with the ride height, now all i need is the alignment shop, thank you very much.
 
To lower the rear ride height, you add LONGER bolts. I know it may sound backwards, but that is the way it is.

I found out how to riase it, by the shorter bolts, I think what it is , is when i put new buching in it raised it up and now the tires sit in, going to take it to the shop to have a alignment done , thamks for the replys.

ok heres what i did, i got out the tape, it was off some from side to side, i adjusted the nuts up on the bolt until i got 30 inches from floor to fender on each side, had to back one side off and run one side up, my floor is straight so iam guessing this was the way to do it, the car looks to sit straight, thats the only way i figured to make it the right hight, on both sides ?? iam i right ?,
 
Not sure about a 1980. For my 74 I used 28 1/2 inches floor to top of wheel arch. To be sure you are OK you need to measure the height at the camber rods. This is a little hard to do since you have to have the car on the ground and you need to slide under there with a measureing device. By measuring at the wheel arch you have the body mounts and front springs in the equation. this from the assembly manual. A good book to have. The diagram shows where to measure. You will be finding measurement "D". It is the center of the bolt on each end of the camber rod to the ground. Subtract the shorter from the longer measurement. The difference between the two ends has to be the same for both sides of the car. (within .25 inches) If so then your approach is OK other wise you must have some other issues.
