gang,

I have a rear bearing making noise and need to replace it. After looking around it seems that the following options are available:

AC Delco- expensive
Napa- Can not find it on their web site. Anyone know price & quality?
Timken
Chicago Rawhide
BCA

Who manufactures AC Delco bearings- any of the later 3?

the last 3 are from local parts stores (Advance or Autozone) I do not have a Pep Boys located near me so theirs is out. Also, should these come with the wheel studs also?

The bearings are going on a street driven 91 ZR1.

Thanks,
Dan

I have no clue who would sell AC bearings, but I put in a Autozone Timken bearing in it last fall and so far it has held up. My brother put the same kind in his car a year or two ago with no problems. Sorry I can't answer your question.

About seven months ago, I put the Pep Boys rear wheel bearings on my car. This weekend, I will be replacing them, as they are already shot!

I ordered the AC Delco bearings from Ecklers.

In the case of rear wheel bearings on Corvette's it would seem that you get what you pay for! :cry

Bearing

Were the Pep Boys bearing grey and made by Chicago Rawhide?
That sucks...'cuase I just purchased 2 of them.

They were grey, but I'm sorry to say I can't remember who made them. I'll find out next week when I pull them off!
The only distinguishing thing about them was that the wheel studs weren't the same as the stock ones. They didn't have the little un-threaded bit on the ends.

That's interesting. The wheel studs on the ones I purchased have the little unthreaded portion at the end. Good luck with yours- let us know what happens.

I just replaced the left side bearing on my 91 with a Chicago Rawhde bearing I purchased at Pep Boys. The two bearings (the old & new) were identical- even down to the part number stampings on the bearing hubs and the part numbers on the seals.

I know that my old ones wre the originals so it looks as if Chicago Rawhide was the OEM supplier to GM...at least in 91.
