Rear window modification

Is there a way to modify a 1980 vette rear window to open up like a 1982 rear window does?

There used to be kits for that, they were way expensive, but i dont think they make them anymore..

Try to get a Assembly Manual for a 82 and see if you can get the hardware off a 82 CE. I know of 3 cars (82 CE's) that have been turned into convertibles, thus removing their hatch gear..

Maybe a Salvage Yard has a junk 82CE?

Good luck with it. It's a big job, i was told. Especially the glass, as you cant just drill it out, right? And getting e 82CE glass is not cheap.

I agree. Start with the 82 AIM CE section and put together a parts list of what you will need. Compare the 82 AIM with the 80 AIM to get a ballpark idea of what will be involved. Once you know what you're up against, you can begin putting the parts together.

CE rear glass will be expensive; hinges are now being reproduced, but are also big bucks.
