Recall Program on Steering Column

Sir: Having not received a notification on the Steering Column Recall I contacted my Dealer today and gave them my VIN #, upon looking it up in there computer it stated that it was Closed. Does that mean that since I am the second owner that it might have been already done or that the recall has been closed.

Your 99 was probably under the 01044a recall which was the first one issued.

My question is still not answered, why did it show on the computer that my recall was closed, has the steering column recall been done or has the recall ended.

HI there,
Either could have occurred. Your dealership could check the service history to see if there was one actually done.
It is a different part of the system, but it can be done. They must have looked at the summary screen and see the Closed message.

Got the recall notice last week. Called my dealer, made an appointment and the repair took about 45 minutes.
