Rob,

Thanks for the information.

GM / Chevrolet has dealt with this issue repeatedly, first with a "satisfaction" campaign, then a safety recall that has been modified/updated repeatedly.

When will GM / Chevrolet fix this safety problem for good?

Rob,

Thanks for the GM Policy Adjustment undate, I copied this information for later reference.

You da Man!

Rob, Thanks for the recall recall note. Came in todays mail.
After reading through Bulletin 4006"C" I have to question if is a good idea to have this done to a manual shift vette. I had mine in for the original recall and according to GM Link no work was done. The installation of the harness kit was for automatics only. Guess I missed something in the paperwork or I would not of taken it in. The dealership did get an oil change done though.

Any thoughts on this proceedure? Thanks.

Am I reading this correctly?

CORRECTION
Dealers are to remove the column lock plate on U.S. and Canadian vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and U.S. vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. After the service correction, the steering column will no longer lock when the key is removed.

So they are just completely removing your steering wheel locking.

Mine falls into these ranges, VIN ending sequence numbers 35100003 35135465, unless excluded by

GMVIS (GM Vehicle
Inquiry System) prior to beginning recall repairs. [Not all vehicles within the
above breakpoints may be involved.]

If this is true, this fix seems to be an insult

That is basicly what I got out of it as well; I have a 2000 w/stick transmission and don't plan on taking mine in either. What would be the thoughts out there on this? I have got a number of recalls on this but have yet to act on them. :confused

Anymore information on this pros or cons would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,
Bill :beer

I also have the m6 and have had recall after recall notices........did the CLB myself.........shortly after taking my friends 01 Z06 in to Kelly chevrolet and having the pull key wait...... His car had to be flatbeded back to the dealership AFTER the so-called fix

I have heard that once this recall is done sometimes really starts your problems, never had any problems with mine, knock on wood. But I am just leery about the dealership screwing with it and creating a problem, not to mentioned I really don't want them removing the steering wheel. What does the CLB, is that the after market fix? The local dealership told me that they have found a very small percentage of the column locks that they had to do something with, but GM put the recall out to cover their butts. Do you think it would be wise to get this done or not?

Thanks,
Bill

got similar email for my 2001 Z06 today- had the recall done SOME TIME ago - they reflashed the PCM, and that was the extent of the recall - don't paln on doing anything now

Received mine yesterday, reads the same as Tammy's (MsSchroder)

I received mine yesterday, as well. Since the letter makes it clear that this ISN'T a recall, on my next trip to the dealer, I'll show him the letter and ask what should be done (if anything) given that I had the recall service work done in July, 2004. (The letter, after all, does suggest you keep it in your glove box until your next visit to a Chevy Service Department.)

Same letter yesterday also for our 03 AE. I haven't had a single problem with the column. Since this isn't a 'RECALL', I'm just going to sit on it and do nothing.

Any more thoughts on this recall; :ugh I still haven't had my done and I've got all kinds of RECALL NOTICES. but I'm just leery of taking it in and having problems afterwards; as I said before to date I haven't had any. I know that this doesn't mean I couldn't but I am just not sure they know what their doing here, seems to me they are grasping for straws :confused

Comments on this issue would be very much appreicated.

Thanks again,
Bill :w

If you can get the lock plate removed, I would do it. That's half the battle anyway.
