Unfortunately I let my CF sub lapse about 6 months ago in favor of the new CORVETTE rag. I found a post elsewhere and thought I should share the information: The August 2003 Corvette Fever has an article on the LS2 that states that it was shown at a North American Auto Show earlier this year (they have a photo of it). They indicate that it is the same size as an LS1 (5.7L, 346ci) and will make 430-440bhp. It states that the main differences between it and the LS1 are new, taller cylinder heads with angled valves, new cam, and DoD. The picture looks just like an LS1 with an aluminum intake (says the post).

I have checked the CF web site but there is no reference to the August issue at this time.

Yeah... got it right here, and it says the base LS-2 engine will retain 5.7L but have 440HP and they mention the very good possibility of a 7.0L with 500HP for the future ZO6. It is also mentioned that the LS-2 in the Chevy SS was 6.0L and produced about 430HP. There are some internal changes to cam location in block, taller ports to allow some creative valve changes, splayed valves and room for even larger displacement. The Displacement on Demand is possible to incorporate into the new LS-2 in the future. I think this article is all over the map on displacement. Who knows?:upthumbs

Sounds like they are presenting some guesswork as fact. Is that your impression, Rocketblock? If not in the dark, I guess we're still in the shaddows about the LS2.

It doesn't and can't sound definate. There is old news to us about the next generation of engine continues the pushrod design and there will be subtle changes. :confused I still feel like a mushroom! Corvette Fever is a good mag tho.

I've subscribed to CF on and off for years. Thought I'd give this new "glossy" Corvette Magazine a try. It's a bit like an Automobile Magazine, but just vettes and more numbers. Pics aree great.

LS2 ?.....I hope GM has bigger plans for their new Z06 because Ford is bringing back the GT40 with about 500 horsies on board. There is an article in autoweek stating that Ford will try to match up to Ferrari......I hope the corvette gets a "supercar version" soon.

The GM engine listing we all saw when it was mistakenly listed publicly, indicated an LS2 and an LS7. It's logical to assume the LS2 will be the new "standard" engine and the LS7 (bet on 500 minimum HP). will be the higher performance engine. The listings did NOT show HP.

The C6 starts "clean" with no economic requirement for a 3rd (FRC) body style. So exactly how these engines will be packaged and priced has been discussed at length, but at this point I'm not convenced that GM even knows all the details yet.
