From looking around it is pretty obvious that the best bet is to rechrome the corner bumpers, but what is not so obvious to me is whether or not it is best to rechrome the other parts versus buying new. This will not be a NCRS judged car, but rather a real nice looking driver when I am done.

So for those that have gone this route before, what is the best thing to do? I know from reading that it appears that everyone gets the windshield frame rechromed and corner bumpers, but what about everything else?

Also for those parts that you suggest buying, what is the best source with the best price?

your comments as usual are appreciated!

I rechromed

left front bumper, right front bumper, center bumper,(not running a front plate)
left rear,right rear,plate surround,

left and right windsheild courners, left and right door post.

All other chrome was purchased new thru paragon reproductions.

When I was pricing out the chroming it just did not make sence to me to pay to rechome when reproduction parts were available.

All of the stainless on my car I was able to polish

Firstgear,
I would agree with Larry on this one for a few reasons:

1)I had my front bumpers rechromed last year and am very happy with the way they turned out.

2) Pieces like original bumpers may be better fitting than repros and by virtue of their cost, make re-chroming an easy avenue to go down.

3)Smaller pieces are readily available and when it comes down to it, the price differential makes the decision to buy repros vs rechroming an easier one.

4) Paragon is an excellent vendor to do business with. I have used them several times and was very pleased. I have reco'd them to a buddy. He's purchased thousands of dollars from them and is very happy with their service.

Good luck with your decision.

Best regards,
Pedro
