Reconnecting Hood Release Cables

1987 coupe. My hood release cable has come loose from the under dash latch. Anyone know how I might reconnect it? For now I'm opening my hood by pulling on the cable ends with pliers.

Are you sure its not broken?...The release is bolted up under the dash...if you like I can scan the pic in my manuel
