My remote started acting up Sun. sometimes it would work , other times no. I put a new battery in tried to synchronize no go, then tied a relearn , no go. Then I borrowed a friends remote same thing. Disconnected the battery for a couple of hours hoping to reset something, still won't work, any idea's , before I take it to the dealer, thanks Jim.

Are both remotes bad or only one.

If only one is bad then it is the remote.

If both are bad then the problem is in the base station (car).

Both are bad, do you know where the remote station is, or is this a dealer thing, thanks Jim.

Had the same problem. Mine acted like it was in active mode sometimes. I did not have access to a 2nd remote. Took advice from forum members and purchased a replacement. No problems in a couple months with replacement.

Programing New Remote For Locks On A 2000 C-5 Coupe

I purchased a C-5 Coupe a few months ago and only got one ignition key and remote. I just recently purchased the second remote and key from Penske Chevrolet in Indianapolis, In. Well the ignition key seems to work fine but I have tried to program the remote according to the owners manual via the DIC on the dash. I get to the program part of I think it was called on the DIC FOB TRAINING. Then you are suppose to hold the lock and un-lock buttons on the remote at the same time and wait for the horn to blow. This is not working; any good advice or ideas would be appreicated. The original remote seems to work fine, just wanted a back-up that works as well. By the way my Vette has memory too and this seems to play a role as well. Thank in in advance for your input and or advise.

Take it to the dealer, let them program it, I never had lucl releaning them also. My problem turned out to be a couple of loose grounds, I was also getting codes. I just odered a new remote from Fred Beans, we'll see how I make out with this, good luck, Jim.

Thanks for your reply back, I think I will take it to the dealer. Really didn't want to take it out, just got it detailed and ready to store for the winter. If there are any other ideas out there I would like to hear them first.

Thanks and a healthy, happy life to you and your family.

Bill,
The DIC will show... Training 1st FOB, hold down both buttons on the first FOB. The horn should sound after about 10 seconds. The DIC will then show Training 2nd FOB, hold down the button on the second FOB. If the horn sounds the second time you are good. If that is not working I would check the new FOB and make sure they gave you the correct one and that the battery is installed. Check the part number on the back. I'm not sure if all year C-5 FOBS are interchangeable. Good luck. Oh and have fun with that Indiana winter. I spent one in Indianapolis. Although it was a nice change from the southern winter I don't miss the snow for weeks straight.
