What do you do with the connectors that were used on the pump just cut or wire the ends together.
Bill 84 crossfire

I had a question, it's a 84 that was just rebuilt the pump did not turn, I was looking to increase performance

When I removed the air pump on my '85: I cut the wires back a little way, taped each individual end, and tucked them into the plastic wire loom. Removing the pump won't increase power much if any - it just cleans up the engine bay.

Another question

I bought the car with a blown motor and half apart, I got the engine rebuilt and running back in the car, the fan only runs when I hot wire it, any clues on the parts the control when it shuts on/off. It has cross fire I ported the intake manifold it sounds strong but will take it easy for the first 500 miles. Thanks Bill

The A.I.R. pump is free spinning. Removing it cleans up the engine bay. No horsepower gain but a little weight reduction. After itinital start up, it is useless. Throw on some high flow cats and you pass emissions. As for the tubes. You can cut them back and block them off with plates they used to sell but I am not sure if they are still in production. Remove as much of it as you can. It won't throw a code either. Might be able to put a bolt in the holes left to block them off.:D

The electric fan is controlled by the ecm. There is a sensor in the front of the intake manifold (on the TPI) that sends a signal to the ecm. The fan comes on around 225 degrees and shuts off at 220 degrees - yes that's HOT! The ecm turns on a fan relay that then turns the fan on/off. There are a couple of ways to turn the fan on sooner. You can get a custom chip burned with the changes, or companys like Eckler/Mid-America sell a low temp fan switch.
