Removing corvette emblem

I would appreciate any recommendations in removing the plastic corvette emblem on the rear of a 1998 corvette without hurting the paint.The car was just repainted and they installed the old emblem and it has a small piece missing. This is the emblem that spells corvette on the rear and has three pins to line up and is held by adhesive. I was going to use a hair dryer and get the adhesive hot and work it very slow.

That's a good start. Use some light fishing line between the emblem and the paint to help separate them.
