I have received a new door panel outer window seal. The part is held in place by 3 rivets. Is there any bug-a-boos that I should be aware of in getting the old seal off and putting the new seal on? Is there any problems or shortcuts in the remove/replace process? Thanks, CAB

It's pretty straight forward....the biggest issue being drilling out the old rivets. Make sure that youput some sort of stop on the drill bit. It is not very fat to the outer door panel and people have prilled clear through the outside of the door panel.

If you have a pop rivet gun I think the rivets you need are 3/16" D x 1/4" L aluminum. Some of the weather seals come with rivets others don't.

Oh and after the rivets are drilled out, I think that the seal has just be pulled up, there are clips that have to be disengaged from the inner door frame. I used a block of wood and a mallet to tap the new ones down.

Many thanks for the great info. I knew there was somebody who could provide concise info. We're going to tackle this project this afternoon & I have never done any rivetting before. The piece I got came with the 3 rivets. Thanks again.

Thanks, I checked out the article and most of it I had done already (I had forgotten about the anti-shake pieces tho'). I wonder if there is such an article on the Inner Window Seal? That one calls for heavy staples thru plastic. I wonder how to do that? Thanks again. Finished the project tonite with no problems except those darn clips were tough getting out the old one.
