I've read myself out with the various possibilities on the starting and running problems. I'm still gonna have it all checked out just to be sure i get it all, but Im convinced it's a good idea to replace the original injectors anyway.
Venom #735-HP-623-8 seems to be the best choice. Should fit with no mods and minimal headaches, other than the usual Corvette gremlins.
Are there any special parts, gaskets I'll need to have on hand. Should we use gasket in a tube for anything instead of the factory stuff, I may clean the plenum and manifold too while there. Tube gaskets there too?

why not look into the Bosch 3, I think thats the new injector of choice.

real good people

The Bosch 3's being touted are either rebuilts, or extracts from other cars, and aren't the correct length - needing compromises to install. I'm not comfortable with that. I chose between Accel, Venom and RC (all direct replacements) and went for the best deal and availability - haven't actually bought them yet. I'm waiting for my mechanic to complete the full test before laying out money, and we'll discuss injectors then.
I was also weary of not getting clear concise replies about the Bosch's - mostly just testomonials and avoidance of direct responses to my questions. I'm like a prosecutor - if I ask A, B. C - I want direct specific answers to A, B, C or I regard the responder as in contempt of Tony and walk away. I'm a consultant - I ask tugh direct questions for a living and I can smell BS at the first whiff. Some say I'm a Nazi, so be it, it's my money and peace of mind.
Most of my car work was on carburetors, I've learned more than I ever wanted about injectors (and L98 engines and their foibles). I'm weary of all this learning. It's spring soon. I just wanna get her back on the road drop the top, and punch it.

just so you know. all the aftermarket injector including the ones you mention are 1/4 inch shorter than the stock. I read a lot too, the venom uses a Bosch 2 (real old) core to re manufacturer theirs, yes reman. look at the pic of one, they are yellow top bosch, the accell and rc are all 60mm o ring to o ring, same as the bosch 3. The stock injector is 65mm o ring to o ring. so keep asking questions maybe you find out what is the best replacement.

Arghhhh. How do these guys get away with saying "New" if they're remans??? I def don't want to use a reman in a situation where the labor and other parts/mat'ls needed are greater than the cost of new injectors. I want this to be a once and done issue. The originals lasted 20 years, I should be able to repeat that.
Truthfully I sometimes want to just put any old stuff in there, get her running and sell it. Then go buy a decent C2 or early C3 - no tricks, no emissions,no digital yada, simple carburettors. I did have a 65, 68 and 72. Never had problems, liked the 65 best. Of course I was young and lived in Fort Lauderdale.

I guess I'm back to looking.

one thing i noted on the bosch 3's i put in was much better performance. ya know gm in the ls1 went to a bosch 3 and uses a bosch injector in all vettes still today. another thing, you can replace a bosch 3 once installed without even removing the plenum.. i did it when i went from 22 to 24 and then to 30.. should of done the 30 right away.. but don't waste your money for like 170 bucks you get a injctor that was designed to run a million miles.. thats what bosch says anyway.
have fun

Actually my first choice was the Bosch 3's but I couldn't find any new, only the reman's - and it took some arm-twisting to extract that info. I was told that only Ford dealers had new ones for Mustangs. Of course Ford dealers only know Ford part nos and couldn't respond to my questions about dimensions, flow rated, resistance etc.
If they were std on LS1's then where are the suppliers of new parts for them? Another web search I guess.
Blah ... that C2 option keeps looking better.

Success - Injectors are in and she's running HOTTTTT. Many thanks to all of you and especialy to Jon at FIC who supplied exactly the right parts. My Mechanic had no problems and everything fit perfectly. I can't wai to see what kinda MPG I get. I'll be taking a 150 mile Interstate trip thurs so that should be a good indicator.
